I’m best when I’m refocused on O and my family.
So tonight we did our first “mystery trip.” I read this in some magazine at the ENT’s office (I’ve read every single People, Redbook, Southern Living, Parents, etc for the last year with all these dumb doctor’s appointments.)
Basic idea is to pack the whole family into the car and go on small local “trips” all together. You tell the kids it’s a “mystery trip” and don’t tell them where you’re going. Sometimes it’s a big place, like an amusement park. Other times it’s out for ice cream. Lots of times it’s free. Sometimes you arrange for their friends to meet you there.
I LOVE this idea. The “mystery” makes the trip exciting and builds anticipation. The family time is awesome. You get to do all the fun local stuff in the area that you always want to do but never get to.
So we’re going to start doing this at least once a month, if not more. Tonight, as I was telling my husband about it, we arranged our first one and took O to Cold Stone.
Ok, so he didn’t have a nap today and fell asleep in the car, but he was still VERY excited to wake up at Cold Stone and get ice cream.
It might not have fit in my diet, but I think it was worth it.
